I looked at a lot of scales before choosing this one, and complaints about inaccuracy abound. It gets 5 stars for doing precisely what a scale is meant to do, but loses one star for the inaccuracy of the product description.According to the product description, this scale can measure weight in kg, lbs, and stone-pounds. According to the instruction booklet, it does this based on the position of a small slide-switch contained in the battery casing. There is no switch. The scale measures only in kg. The conversion is not difficult, and the precision seems higher for scales that weigh in kg rather than lb. Unfortunately a little thought shows that "seeming" to be deceptive, since most scales are accurate to .2lbs, and this scale is accurate to .1kg. A kg is 2.2 lbs. Reads weight in lbs and Kg, tells you your body fat, and hydration level. Allows you to store up to 10 different people. The scale is very accurate, doesn't fluctuate every time you step off and step back on. The INSTRUCTIONS about how to switch from kg to lbs is WRONG. The way you can switch from kg/cm to lbs/ft is by pressing the set button a couple times, passing all the initial age and height set up then the scale will flash either a weight or ---- this is when you press the up or down button and on the right side it will say kg or lbs. The glass and stainless steel look is clean and very nice. Unfortunately while it gets 5 stars for its looks, the functionality leaves a lot to be desired. I had no issues setting it up and programming it, but using it has been disappointing. The weight that it reports seems to fluctuate several pounds between readings (as in a few seconds apart). The weight reported can also change by several pounds just by moving it one or two inches on the floor.The body fat it reports is wildly inaccurate. I had my body fat checked in 2 different doctor's offices and they both showed I was at 19%. This consistently shows me in the mid-20's. This reading doesn't seem to fluctuate as much as the weight, so I can use it as a measure of my improvement over time, but in terms of an actual number it's useless. |
